Hello I'm writing from Australia. I've been researching my ex-husbands family tree for our children and Minshull is one of the names.  It occurs a number of times but in particular I'm researching a Mary Minshull married New York to a Dominick Mazzinghi, they both end up back in England.  Mary's father was John Minshull and there is an indirect connection with the Skeffington family who had positions of authority in the reigns of Henry VII and VIII and afterwards e.g. becoming Sherrifs. Would love to recieve and information anyone out there might have.  regards Susan   sbmhome@hotmail.com

I enjoyed looking at your website. Many years ago I lived in church minshull with my parents Annie and Alvin Parker and four brothers and sister. My dad lived in the village in one of the black and white cottages, I think it was thatched, the cottages were demolished in the 60's.Dad worked for Mr Parton as a farm labourer. We lived at Weaver View  and went to Church Minshull School, when I was about 7 we moved to Willow Tree Farm which belonged to the Partons..A few years ago we went back to Willow Tree, the willow tree was still in the garden, I do remember the day Mrs Parton brought the tiny tree in a plastic bag,dad planted in the garden.

We believe that our family, now living in California, USA, has roots in your area.  The name apparently morphed from MInshull, Minshall and Minshaw to our current spelling of Menshew.  Any information you have would be much appreciated.

Dear Sir/Madam, I wish to thankyou for the wonderful website that you have here. I am a degree student at the University of York and am currently tracing the origin of my name, and am glad that I found your website and this beautiful little village. If ever there was a sweet rural place, then it is here and it felt almost like a home coming for me..
When I am not doing archaeology, I am a watercolour artist and have a passion for rural places.
All in all thankyou for keeping the history of Minshull alive, which I believe goes way back to the days of the crusades.

For all those people who are tracing families who once lived in the village or require historical information, there are now two routes to take! My book entitled 'Too Proud to be Forgot', (taken from a poem of the same name) provides a detailed general history and does not contain the errors of the other recent publication. On sale in church and at the shop in Worleston, priced £15. For geneology from 1640 to 1850 there is a DVD available at £17. Again leave a request in church for a copy or email myself and I will ensure your order is passed on. Please title such emails as Church Minshull so that they are not deleted as spam.

Does anyone have any information regarding Edward Willamson, a corn miller, or his wife Eliza [nee Egerton] who lived in the village in1860.  They had a son named Thomas born in 1860 and may have had other children

Thanks for your informative site!
Researching my family history I found a link to your village for the BATE family - agricultural labourers/servants there in the 20thC.
Anyone else connected?

Came across the charming name of this village when searching for a friend's ancestry .
In the 1871 census Samuel Charlesworth[32] , a Miller is living with his wife and 5 children , including Ellen [ aka Helen] [5] . She went on to marry a George Pilling ; they lived in Kingsley,Cheshire .

The history section that mentions that Elizabeth Minshull lived at Church Farm is inaccurate - she has never (unfortunately !)  been associated with the village !

If you would like to give the accurate information regarding Church Farm, will incude it in the section.

We have just received a very nice Christmas card of the Church from Elisabeth and Jonathon (the surname is not clear). As they mention they are attending the Carol Service tonight I would be very grateful if , should you receive this in time, you would pass on our thanks from all ranks 246 Gurkha Signal Squadron currently deployed in Afghanistan. A card makes a big difference.

Merry Christmas and thank you.

Howdy Church Minshull.
Just thought I'd have a closer look at where my ancestors used to live. I'll have to come and have a pint there one day, see if I can get it free using the immortal line "Don't you know who I am?"
It's good to know that the family was once important enough to have a bit of land and a coat of arms. I don't know where it all went wrong, as I generally haven't got two farthings to rub together.
Regards.

The W.I. ,The Parish Council ,The Village Hall Committee and The Parochial Church Council are all significant local bodies which in many villages use the website to disseminate information about their organization. Why not in Church Minshull?

Dear Wellwisher, perhaps in time these bodies will realise the power of the internet as a great communication tool. I would be delighted to receive items of news such as agendas and minutes of meetings or information on activities, talks etc. This would significantly add to the dynamic content of the Village website.
